While Insane Championship Wrestling has branched out to new cities in the last year or so, the companies roots will forever be in Glasgow, where ICW grew from a small wrestling show in Maryhill, to one of the country’s hottest entertainment attractions. With the promotion owing so much to Glasgow and its fans, Insane Championship Wrestling will give back to its home city on Saturday May 30th, at a very special charity event.
ICW: Afternoon Delight will take place at The Briggait in Glasgow on May 30th, to mark the re-opening of the Clutha Vaults bar, and all proceeds from the event will go directly to the Clutha Trust. Not only will this show be for a good cause, but for the first time ever, the whole family can experience the rabid atmosphere of an Insane Championship Wrestling show, as under-18’s will be permitted entry to this event. This will be a hugely important day for the entire city of Glasgow, and as such, ICW: Afternoon Delight promises to be a huge show, with the card having already been announced.
Dickie Divers and Mikey Whiplash may be one of the most mismatched teams on paper, but after months of torment, these two highly-skilled competitors will unite to take on the men who have recently made their lives a living hell, Chris Renfrew and BT Gunn. Will Divers and Whiplash’s common hatred for the NAK be enough to help them pick up the win, or will Renfrew and BT once again find a way to pick up the victory at the expense of their bitter rivals?
The ICW Women’s division has been heating up as of late, with some of the very best talent in the country looking to cement themselves as the top female competitor in the company. At Afternoon Delight, we will see two of these very different talents battle it out, as Kasey Owens goes head-to-head with Viper. Two very different, but talented competitors, this will be a contest of speed vs strength, but can Kasey out-wit her opponent to pick up the victory, or will Viper mow down Owens for the win?
Noam Dar is one of the most popular stars in Insane Championship Wrestling at the moment, but that hasn’t stopped the young man from attracting the wrath of ICW GM Red Lightning. With Red constantly looking to make Noam’s life a misery, Dar has been going through a hell of time in ICW, and at Afternoon Delight, he will be put to the test against one of the company’s very best, former ICW Heavyweight Champion Jack Jester. With the ‘Hardcore Icon’ back and more dangerous than ever, will he destroy Noam on the way to another shot at the title he covets so badly, or will Dar take down Jester in a symbolic act of defiance against Red Lightning?
Another man who has been in Red Lightning’s cross-hairs lately is Kenny Williams. While his motives may be unclear, Red has been out to ruin the young stars momentum, and at Afternoon Delight, he has booked him in a match with a man almost twice his size, Wolfgang. Since joining the New Age Kliq, Wolfgang has been almost unstoppable, destroying everyone in his path. Will Kenny Williams be added to his list of victims, or will the young star speed his way to victory in this battle between two former ICW Zero-G Champions?
On a day that will be bring some closure for a lot of people in Glasgow, everyone deserves to smile, and Grado will be in action at Afternoon Delight to make sure everyone leaves happy. ‘The Stevenston Dream’ always brings a positive and infectious attitude with him to the ring, and on May 30th, he will face another very unique and colourful individual, DCT. The golden boy of Polo Promotions is looking to make a name for himself in ICW, and a win over the ‘People’s Champion’ could do wonders for his standing in the company. It’s the bumbag vs the moustache, but will Grado or DCT leave The Briggait with their hand raised high?
Arguably, there is no-one more talked about right now in Insane Championship Wrestling than the current ICW Zero-G Champion, Stevie Boy. While Stevie Boy has long been a staple member of the ICW roster, his recent defection to the New Age Kliq, and his shocking betrayal of his cousin Davey Boy has the ICW fans buzzing. At ICW: Afternoon Delight, Stevie will be in action, defending his Zero-G Championship, but who will he face? With so many young stars vying for their shot at the highly coveted title, who will be the one to step up and take on the champion?
As he heads to Shug’s Hoose Party II on July 26th to face Drew Galloway for the ICW World Heavyweight Championship, Big Damo has been an unstoppable wrecking machine, laying waste to half of the ICW roster in his pursuit of the gold. At Afternoon Delight, he looks to continue that momentum as he faces a man who felt his sting at ICW: Flawless Victory, Lionheart. Since returning to ICW, Lionheart hasn’t quite been able to find his feet, but if the man with the most decorated CV in British Wrestling can get his head in the game and defeat Big Damo, it could catapult him back into the main event picture in Insane Championship Wrestling. Do not miss this showdown between two of the very best that this country has to offer!
ICW: Afternoon Delight takes place at The Briggait on Saturday, May 30th. Tickets are available now at Tickets Scotland, and at West Coast Harley Davidson, 147 North Street, Glasgow, with all proceeds going to the Clutha Trust.
