The Evolution Of Insane Championship Wrestling We utilize our 35+hrs of youtube content to take you through a breif history of ICW
Since ICW's inception on October 15th 2006 we have always uploaded content to our Youtube account 'ICWOnline'. When ICW re-launched in 2010 it decided to focus on using online content to keep people informed show to show what was going on inside the promotion. This led to a online show, followed by a short lived TV show and a iPPV on WWNLive.com
The promotion has recently decided to go back to focusing on online content and in the spirit of that we will take you through a guide of YouTube page to help newer fans understand the evolution of Insane Championship Wrestling...
Part 1 The Grado Videos The rise of the underdog...
Grado had a dream to one day wrestle for Insane Championship Wrestling.
Grado had been a wrestler for over 9 years when he landed in ICW but in more recent years bookings on wrestling events were few and far between.
Earlier this year Grado, with a documentary crew on his tail, decided to film his attempts to get booked for Insane Championship Wrestling. However things didn't go exactly to plan...
After this video made its way on to our YouTube page ICW fans began to rally behind the man from 'The tap end of Stevenston' and he was soon placed "on the bench" by promotions owner Mark Dallas in the off chance someone was injured or no showed the event. This didn't happen, however what did happen was the hates Official Community assaulted Scottish Wrestling legend called Drew McDonald and Grado had seen enough.
You can see Grados ICW debut in the video below at around the 40 minute mark. This is taken from the youtube video of our entire July 2012 event...
After this event Grado was informed he was being given the chance of a lifetime, a chance to go one on one with the ICW Heavyweight Champion Red Lightning.
ICW Champ Red Lighting uploaded his own video calling Grado and ICW owner Mark Dallas a joke. Red claimed he played by ICWs rules and always came out on top. Mark Dallas then fired back by announcing the title match at August 5th 'Super Smokin' Thunderbowl' would be fought under traditional rules.
Wolfgang offered to train Grado in the run up to this match, and invited him to his local Gala Day near Wolfgangs pub The La Cala in Dennistoun, Glasgow.
Although the training didn't go quite according to plan, a friendship was formed that day between two of the most beloved wrestlers ever to be part of the Scottish wrestling scene...
Grado almost caused one of the biggest upsets in the history of British wrestling when he stepped into the ring at The Garage to face Lightning. With ICW largest ever crowd looking on the atmosphere was electric and for a brief moment Grados dream came true...almost
It looked like He had one but later that night we would find out that was not the case with the use of video evidence we see Red had his foot under the rope when pinned so the bout must continue, Red then used the hidden plate off his title belt to knock out Grado and wipe his victory from the history books.
However as far as ICWs concerned there will always be this little * next to Reds reign in our history books that will lead directly to a paragraph explaining that one night where a wrestler named Grado nearly shocked the wrestling world!
This match may not have seen Grado win the gold however he did get the thing he wanted in the very beginning of his quest, a ICW contract.
So what's next for Grado?
Well, on September 2nd at The Garage (Tickets on sale NOW at this website and The Solid Rock in Glasgow city center) he takes on someone who has been a constant thorn in Wolfgangs side, James Scott...
On our next edition of 'The Evolution on ICW' will take a look at THE RISE AND FALL OF THE GOLD LABEL!
(This show will be on line before our September 2nd event)
